Factory Resetting Your Wemo Light Switch

Restoring your Wemo Light Switch to factory defaults erases all current settings, including Wi-Fi configurations and rules. This process is typically used to resolve persistent connectivity issues or to prepare the device for a new setup.

  • Ensure Power: Verify that the Wemo Light Switch is powered on.
  • Locate Reset Button: Find the reset button. On most Wemo paddle-style light switches, this is a small, often recessed, button located directly below the main switch paddle.
  • Press and Hold: Press and firmly hold this reset button.
  • Monitor LED Indicator: Continue to hold the reset button. The switch's Wi-Fi status LED will typically start to blink, often amber. Keep holding the button for approximately 5 to 10 seconds. The LED should then change to a rapid flashing pattern (for example, alternating amber and white, or rapidly flashing amber only).
  • Release Reset Button: Once you observe this rapid flashing LED pattern, release the reset button.
  • Device Reboot: The Wemo Light Switch will then automatically restart. After it completes the reboot sequence, the Wi-Fi LED will typically blink (commonly amber or an alternating amber/white pattern), indicating that the switch is now in its initial setup mode.

Post-Reset Action: After a successful factory reset, you will need to re-configure the Wemo Light Switch through the Wemo mobile application, similar to setting up a brand new device. This includes connecting it to your Wi-Fi network and re-establishing any desired rules or schedules.
