Understanding who shares your Instagram posts involves a few different aspects, as direct visibility varies depending on how it's shared.
Viewing Public Story Reshares
When someone shares your feed post to their Instagram Story, and their account is public, you can often see this.
- Navigate to the specific post on your profile.
- Tap on the three dots () icon, usually located in the top-right corner of your post.
- If your post has been shared to public Stories, you may see an option like "View Story Reshares" or "View Shares." Tap this.
- This will display a list of active public Stories (within 24 hours of their posting) that have featured your post.
Note: You will not see reshares to Stories from private accounts unless you follow them and their privacy settings permit it. This feature shows currently active shares.

Using Post Insights (Professional Accounts)
If you have an Instagram Professional Account (Creator or Business), you can access analytics that include the number of shares, but not always the specific individuals for all share types.
- Go to your post.
- Tap the "View Insights" button located beneath your post.
- In the Insights section, look for the "Shares" metric. This number indicates how many times your post has been shared. This count includes shares to Stories and shares via Direct Message (DM).
Important Consideration: While Post Insights will tell you the total number of times your post was shared via DM, Instagram does not provide a list of the specific users who shared your post through Direct Messages. You can only see the aggregate number for DM shares.
In summary, you can directly see who shared your post to their public Story through the "View Story Reshares" option. For other types of shares, particularly via Direct Message, Instagram provides a count through Post Insights but does not disclose the identities of the sharers.
