Understanding Post Sharing on Instagram
When it comes to seeing who has sent your Instagram post, it's important to understand the platform's limitations. Directly viewing a list of individuals who have forwarded your specific post to others via Direct Message (DM) is not a feature currently offered by Instagram.
Here's what you can and cannot see regarding your post being shared:
- Direct Message Shares (to others): You cannot see a list of people who have taken your post and sent it to another user via a private Direct Message. Instagram does not disclose this information to the original poster for privacy reasons.
- Shares to Stories:
- If someone shares your post to their Instagram Story and tags your account, you will receive a notification and can see their Story.
- If your account is public and someone shares your post to their Story without tagging you, you will generally not be notified.
- Post Insights (Business/Creator Accounts): If you have a Business or Creator account, you can view Post Insights. These insights show the number of times your post has been "Shared." However, this is an aggregate number. It indicates how many times the share icon was tapped and the post was sent (e.g., via DM or to a Story), but it does not reveal the specific individuals who shared it or to whom it was sent via DM.
- Direct Messages to You: If someone sends your own post back to you in a Direct Message, you will, of course, see who sent it in your DM inbox. This is different from them sending your post to a third party.
In summary:

While Instagram provides some metrics on post engagement and notifications for Story shares where you are tagged, there is no direct way for you, as the original poster, to see a specific list of users who have sent your Instagram post to other individuals through Direct Messages. This functionality is not available on the platform.
